+ EW (evening/weekend). The EW program is offered exclusively at the Lakewood Ranch campus and is contingent upon sufficient enrollment. If no EW schedule is available, EW students may have the opportunity to be admitted into the Day program.

The A.S. Nursing Transition program at 吃瓜不打烊, Manatee-Sarasota is a limited enrollment program. Completion of all or part of the academic courses required for the degree does not guarantee acceptance to the Nursing program. The program does not utilize a wait list. Students must apply/reapply during a nursing application period. If there are more qualified applicants than seats in the program, the policy and procedure on admission requirements and selection process will be followed. The following list of information and instructions has been provided to assist students in the application process to the A.S. Nursing Transition program. It is the student鈥檚 responsibility to ensure that each step mentioned below is completed by the application deadline and that all information provided during the application process is accurate.

All communication from 吃瓜不打烊to nursing program applicants will be done through your 吃瓜不打烊studnent email account.  Please make sure your 吃瓜不打烊student email account is active!  Monitor your 吃瓜不打烊student email account so that you do not miss any pertinent information regarding your application status. If you experience issues with your 吃瓜不打烊student email account, please contact the  . 


What do I need to apply to the program?

Completion of the following 4 prerequisite courses by the application deadline of desired semester start:

  1. BSC 2085 – Anatomy and Physiology I (3 Credit Hours)
    • BSC 2085L – Anatomy and Physiology I Laboratory (1 Credit Hours)  
  2. BSC 2086 – Anatomy and Physiology II (3 Credit Hours)
    • BSC 2086L – Anatomy and Physiology II Laboratory (1 Credit Hours)
  3. ENC 1101 – Written Communication I (3 Credit Hours)
  4. Mathematics Any Category A,  Area II, A.A. (3 Credit Hours)

GPA + TEAS requirements:

In addition to the completion of the above prerequisites, applicants must meet one of the following two Prerequisite GPAs + TEAS requirements (read more about the TEAS below).

Additional Requirements for Transition Program:

  • Current, unencumbered, unrestricted Florida PN License
  • Working LPNs: Proof of work experience in the past 12 months. Please provide a letter from your employer which must include the following:
    • company letterhead,
    • the dates you have been employed with said employer, and
    • the nursing (hands-on) skills you perform on the job.
  • Applicants will be required to upload their letter to their student profile (Project Concert) upon Conditional Acceptance. 
  • If you are a recent LPN program graduate, you have twelve (12) months from the time you graduate to enter the Transition Nursing Program and not be required to show LPN work experience. Recent LPN school graduates will be required to upload their LPN school diploma to student profile (Project Concert) upon Conditional Acceptance. 

The following General Education courses aren鈥檛 necessary for admission, but it is best if they have been completed or nearly completed (i.e., only 1 or 2 classes left) as they will eventually need to be completed before the start of the student鈥檚  2nd-to-last semester of the program in order to graduate:

  • PSY 2012 – General Psychology
  • DEP 2004 – Human Development: Life Span
  • MCB 2010C – Microbiology + MCB 2010L (Lab component)
  • Civic Literacy: Choose 1
    • AMH 1020 – U.S. History 1877 to Present
    • POS 1041 – American Government
  • Humanities, Any Category A,  Area IV, A.A.: Choose 1       

All of the above courses (prerequisites AND general education courses (total of 9)) form part of the Program Overall GPA. This GPA must be 2.75 or above for admission.

How do I apply to the program?

  1. Not a student at 吃瓜不打烊yet? Submit a  application to SCF.
  2. If applicable, send transcripts from previously attended institution(s). Transcript evaluations can take the Office of the Registrar several weeks so please be sure to complete this step in a timely manner. Please see: Transcripts
  3. Submit ADDITONAL application to the Nursing program of your choice during an open application period via: 
  4. Complete Payment. The A.S. Nursing application fee is $35.00 and is non-refundable. If you previously paid this application fee within the past three (3) years, you will not be required to do so again. If you have any issues making the payment online, or have any questions regarding this payment, contact Fee Payment/Cashiering at 941-752-5370. You can visit their office in person (Bradenton or Venice campus). The nursing application fee is not included in tuition/fee payment plans and is not covered by Financial Aid. Failure to pay the application fee by the application deadline will result in your application being denied.

What happens next?

  • You will receive confirmation of your application submission via your personal and 吃瓜不打烊student email addresses. If you do not receive a confirmation email, your application has not been submitted. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all requirements (including the application) have been met + correctly submitted.
  • From this point forward, all updates regarding your application (conditional acceptance/denial) will be sent to your 吃瓜不打烊STUDENT EMAIL. No exceptions will be made if you miss a deadline or event due to not having checked your student email.
  • Applicants may be prompted to provide additional information during the application process. Requests for additional information will be submitted via the 吃瓜不打烊student email address or Project Concert (student profile + document keeping software).

吃瓜不打烊 the TEAS:

The TEAS 7 is the required entrance exam for all nursing applicants regardless of their level of education. No nursing knowledge is tested. In-person TEAS testing at SCF鈥檚 Assessment and Testing Center is currently being offered. Applicants have the option to take the exam in-person at other institutions/testing sites or Online Proctored by ATI. If taken at another institution or remotely, applicants must send their TEAS Transcripts to 吃瓜不打烊by their desired application deadline.

TEAS deadlines will always coincide with the application period deadline (please see the top of the page for deadlines). TEAS Prep Workshops and Online Courses are available at the 吃瓜不打烊Tutoring and Academic Success Center.

  • 吃瓜不打烊Nursing is currently accepting the TEAS Version 7.
  • The TEAS is required of ALL applicants regardless of their level of education.
  • Qualifying scores are good for three (3) years from the exam date unless听requirements change and/or ATI makes the next version of the exam听available.
  • When attempting to achieve a TEAS Total of 58.7%, applicants have three (3) attempts within one calendar year. There is a mandatory thirty (30) day waiting period between each attempt.
  • When attempting to achieve听TEAS Total and Science minimum scores of 65%, applicants have only two (2) attempts to do so.听There is a mandatory thirty (30) day waiting period between each attempt.

The TEAS is offered at SCF’s Bradenton and Venice campus Assessment/Testing centers for 吃瓜不打烊students only.

Students with Disabilities: Pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, reasonable accommodations are provided to individuals with a documented disability.听 You must bring a copy of your Disability Resource Center (DRC) Eligibility Letter to your testing appointment.听 If you have questions about your eligibility, email the DRC at听DRC@SCF.edu.

To take the TEAS at SCF, follow these steps:

  1. 痴颈蝉颈迟听.
  2. Scroll to the registration section of the page, and click “Start Registration”
  3. If you have an existing ATI account, select “Sign In”. If you need to create one, select “Create an Account”.听听It is important to remember your ATI login. You will need this on exam day. Students who do not have their ATI login may be turned away from taking the ATI TEAS Exam.
  4. Follow the prompts to complete your registration.
  5. Once you have successfully registered and paid for the TEAS exam, you will receive an email confirmation from ATI with your exam date, time and location.听 Be sure to bring this confirmation with you to your exam, along with a government-issued photo ID.
  6. CONFIRM听your TEAS exam date and time with the听吃瓜不打烊Assessment and Testing Center.

Students may take the TEAS at another institution and have their official TEAS transcripts sent directly to SCF’s Assessment and Testing Center. Visit www.atitesting.com to place your order. TEAS transcripts must be received by 吃瓜不打烊by the TEAS deadlines.

IMPORTANT TESTING RULES:

  • ATI requires an examinee to present a valid government-issued photo ID.听 The photo must be recognizable.听 First and last names must match the ATI registration and government-issued ID exactly.听 If there is a discrepancy, the examinee must resolve the issue before 吃瓜不打烊will administer the TEAS.
  • 吃瓜不打烊only administers the TEAS to 吃瓜不打烊students who are applying to SCF’s A.S. Nursing program.
  • You听must bring your ATI username, password and order confirmation number.
  • You will be given听a writing instrument and scratch paper听by the Testing Center Technician.听These materials must be returned to the Testing Technician after taking the exam.听 You may not use your own materials.
  • No backpacks, briefcases, purses, cell phones,听or other electronic devices, food or drinks听allowed in the testing room. Lockers in Bradenton or bags in Venice are provided for storage of these听items.
  • Students听may not refer to any support materials or aids at any time during the test. You also cannot click听outside of the test window to enter the Internet. Clicking outside the听test window will 鈥渇reeze鈥 your exam and you will not be able to continue听the exam.
  • The TEAS is a timed test. Only limited bathroom breaks are allowed and should ONLY be taken at the end of a section BEFORE proceeding to the next section.
  • If you need to leave your seat at any time, go to the Check In Station.听 Time for the exam section will not stop.听 Time lost cannot be made up.
  • Students are not allowed to communicate with other students during the test.听 If you听have a question or a problem, please notify the Testing Technician immediately.
  • Each test is different, so your screen will be different from the person next听to you.
  • When you have answered the final question of a section, you must select the 鈥Next鈥 button (not the 鈥淪topAssessment鈥 button). When all sections are completed and you are ready to compile results, select the 鈥狈别虫迟鈥听button until you see the message 鈥淭his is the last page of your assessment鈥. Your results will display.听 You will print two (2) copies of your results.
  • Testing Center staff will听give you a copy of your results. If you need additional听copies of your results, go to听听and log in as a student, using your ATI听user ID and password. You will be guided through the听steps needed to bring your results to the screen.
