³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈMathematics Instructor Wins Early Career Teaching Award

(Bradenton, Fla., June 20, 2024) — Robert Shollar, a mathematics department instructor at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF), has won the Early Career Teaching Award from the Mathematical Association of America-Florida Section (MAA). Shollar is the second recipient of this annual given to a full-time Florida college or university faculty member with an outstanding start in a mathematics career.
Altay Ozgener, also an ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈmathematics department professor and MAA officer, nominated Shollar for the award recognizing skilled and innovative mathematics teaching that effectively impacts students beyond the classroom. Ozgener announced Shollar’s award at the annual joint meeting of the MAA and the Florida Two-Year College Mathematics Association. He later presented Shollar with an awards plaque during an ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈmathematics department celebration.
